Winding down on Summer Sewing and Read-Alouds

Well, crumbs.  I started reorganizing things this evening in preparation for the very swiftly up-and-coming school year, when I realized I had not updated the kids’ read-aloud list in about two weeks.  I bet they at least reached 75 titles.  Most of our read-aloud time was spent re-reading old and new favorites, and our read-aloud times are far from over.  The new academic year brings titles and assignments of its own, and there will always be a book to be read. 🙂

51. Icky Bug Alphabet Book

52. Little Grunt and the Big Egg by Tomie DiPaola

53. Charlie Needs a Cloak! by Tomie diPaola

54. I Can Teach My Dog 100 Words

55. We Help Daddy (Little Golden Book)

56. The Umbrella by Jan Brett

57. Time for the Fair

58. Danny and the Dinosaur by Syd Hoff

59. Comet’s Nine Lives by Jan Brett

60. Strega Nona by Tomie diPaola

61. The County Fair by Tasha Tudor

62. Pumpkin Moonshine by Tasha Tudor

63. Patrick, Patron Saint of Ireland by Tomie diPaola

64. The Legend of the Poinsettia by Tomie diPaola

65. The Sun Egg by Elsa Beskow

66. Bread and Jam for Frances

67. Fritz and the Beautiful Horses by Jan Brett

68. Daisy Comes Home by Jan Brett

69. Francis, the Poor Man of Assisi by Tomie di Paola

70. The story of Ferdinand by Munro Leaf

71. Armadillo Rodeo  by Jan Brett

And as I said, there were days we read different titles and forgot to write them on the list.  Still, 70 titles in a summer is nothing to sneer at. 🙂

The sewing continues slowly.  I’m pretty tired these days and haven’t been able to sit at the sewing machine, although I did get a start on the Carina Gardner ruffled dress.  With any luck it will be finished in time for a daughter to wear to her sister’s Baptism!

So there we have it.  I’m going to sleep now.  Good night!
